Feature | Jewish Traditions Infused Spring Wedding
February 15, 2021

A beautiful Georgia celebration with touches of spring floral flare and seamlessly interwoven Jewish traditions – talk about a noteworthy wedding day! Jami and Danny’s Athens Cotton Press wedding had no shortage of fun bridal party moments, Athens love (the place to be, I tell ya) and of course puppy snuggles. I am so elated to be sharing Jami and Danny’s day today on the blog!
See more about their beautiful day on their Carats and Cake Feature! But first…let’s dive into their story!
Getting Ready
Jami spent her morning getting ready with her closest girlfriends, family, and her beloved dog Penny Lane (fur babies, always) at Hotel Indigo in Downtown Athens. After the pop of the champagne, Jami’s mom pulled her aside and gifted her with a delicate bracelet to keep and wear on her wedding day. From the intricate lace on her wedding dress to the small detailed jewels of her heels, Jami was an elegant bride with just the right amount of sparkle.
Design of the Day
Their day had the perfect blend of light spring touches and artful personality. Soft pastel and cream florals filled their day and romantic candlelit stole the show, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere for their guests. Jami and Danny tied the knot at The Athens Cotton Press; built in the 1900s, the restored cotton press is rich in history (and big enough for an epic dance party). From the historic brick walls to graffiti covered sides, it was an artful and meaningful place to host their celebration.
Jewish Influences
Their Jewish heritage is deeply important to Jami and Danny and they integrated many Jewish traditions into their wedding day. From drinking from the kiddush cup to saying their “I do’s” under a custom Chuppa made of flowing white fabrics and beautiful florals; their day held incredible legacy meaning for them, their families, and the family they are going to build.
Before their ceremony they spent time reflecting on the importance and significance of their marriage with their closet family and friends, alongside their Rabbi. They also had a Ketubah signing right before the ceremony – which is a symbolic marriage contract signed by the couple before the Rabbi.
Reception
After twirling under the spring trees and capturing moments of their new marriage giddiness, it was time to dance the night away in the funky restored cotton press lined with candles and lit with bistro lights. It was an Athens celebration like none other. After the traditional (and oh, so fun) Hora dance, the night was full of cake cutting, a live band so fun it required you to have some dancing shoes, and lots of belly laughter inducing speeches.
Jami and Danny’s day was non stop fun and meaningful all at the same time. Looking back at their one-of-a-kind Jewish traditions infused spring day, I just wish we could do it all over again!
