Ohhhh I’m excited about this one friend! Welcome to my new Talk About it Tuesdays!

What are “Talk About it Tuesdays”?

Talk About it Tuesdays are conversations with my favorite wedding vendors and friends to share a little more about what they offer in the wedding industry. Each and every person I interview is a vendor I’ve worked with, know, and trust.

This series was designed for couple’s who are in the planning process! I recognize there are SO many options when it comes to assembling your perfect vendor team, so I hope these vendor interviews give you a deeper glimpse into the person and team behind each and every business you’re considering hiring for your day.

You can learn more about each vendor through our short video (~10 minute) conversations (linked below and hosted on my IGTV) or in the blog post below!

As you watch this series know I’m cheering you on as you plan your perfect event and wedding day!

P.S. – Have a specific question you want to answered? A specific vendor to be interviewed? Send me a message or leave a comment below and we’ll make it happen!

And now lets head into today’s guest….Taylor Dawn!

Talk About It Tuesday with Taylor Dawn

First up we have my incredible friend Taylor, Owner of Taylor Dawn, a wedding planning and design company based here in Athens, Georgia.

You can either hop on the video below and listen in to our conversation or read the blog post below! Taylor is such a treat so I know you’ll enjoy today’s conversation!

Who are you?

I’m Taylor! I live in a small town near Athens called Watkinsville with my husband and sweet puppy. I’m a wedding planner – designer mostly, but also take care of “day of” things. Most of the clients I serve are in Atlanta, but have a few here in my community as well.

What’s the difference between being a “designer” like you mentioned vs. a “coordinator”?

Yes! I actually used to work with a fabulous wedding planner before I started my own business and we both realized we loved the design process and that’s what I love most and started me down this whole design process. The best way I describe this is that I tell brides. “I love to get what’s in their head out of their head and into real life.”

I think it’s the detailed aspects of your wedding day that create a cohesive vision and portray you and your fiance to the world and to your guests. Those are the design details I help with! These details can be anything such as – bridesmaid’s dresses, colors, flowers, design of flowers, menu design, signage for your day, paper good design, etc. All these little details really come together to create a cohesive design and tell your story.

So what this looks like for my brides is starting from the beginning with a design inspiration board to help us guide our entire design process.

Taylor doesn’t provide a one size fits all experience, she creates a custom design process for each and every client.

What’s it like to work with you? What’s your workflow for each couple?

Yeah! We have a few different “packages” that we offer clients and customize. We have these packages because each couple and their needs are different. So all my couples typically inquiry with me at the beginning of their planning process and we’ll first just get to know each other!

Full Design Clients

Then if I have a full planning bride we’re looking at venues, photographers, all the vendors, all the pieces that fit into the design process, etc. These are my full design clients because all of these elements are really going to shape and tell the couple’s story. For example, having a wedding in a field outside versus a ballroom in Atlanta are going to have totally different feelings and thus different design processes.

Partial Planning Clients

I then have some clients that start in the middle. They might already have a venue, photographer, and know what they want their day to look and feel like, but they might not know how to get there and that’s where I come in.

Really by getting to know each of my clients and their personalities helps me create a day unique to them!

What’s your favorite part of the wedding day? What part do you look forward to most?

I love portraits! It’s fun to see my brides with THEIR people. You can just physically see the pressure come off them when they’re around their people, and weddings are so fun because you rarely get to have all your favorite people in one place so that is by far my favorite part!

If a couple wants to work with you, what would be the best way for them to start the process and book you?

Head to my website! It portrays who I am as a company and a person so that’s a good place to start. You can see a lot of my work on my website and also fill out my contact form. From there we will set up an in person or Zoom meeting and get to know each other! I then create a custom proposal for each bride to go along with what they need as each and every bride is different.

You can also head to my Instagram and see a bit about business and a bit about my personal life too! Instagram is really great because when brides book with me they often say they already feel like they know me from my Instagram which is great!

What’s inspiring you about the wedding industry right now?

Right now, it’s how people are coming together! This time has crushed some people and got people down, but seeing the wedding industry come together to serve their clients has been inspiring!

What’s one piece of marriage advice that you would give to a newly engaged couple or those who are planning?

Okay, this seems crazy, but really works for us! This is advice that was given to us when we were planning.

My husband and I go to bed together and wake up at the same time together every day. For me, it’s been interesting because my husband is a high school football coach so he is often awake very early, and since I work from home I could theoretically sleep in, but it’s super easy to get off if we got up at different times. By waking up together and starting our day at the same time we can save the evenings to spend together and it’s really good for our marriage. It’s good for us to be on the same internal clock and be intentional with our evenings.

That’s it friend! I hope you enjoyed today’s interview with Taylor Dawn! If you have questions for Taylor of myself leave them in the comments below!

I can’t wait to share next week’s Talk About it Tuesday guest with you! See you next week!
