Kansas City Nelson Atkin’s Museum Maternity Session
It is such a pleasure to bring Sarah’s maternity session to you all today for SO many reasons!
First, I rarely photograph mama’s to-be, but I’m thankful for the opportunity to photograph Sarah. As of this session she has now delivered her sweet baby boy Shepard. And I’ll just say Sarah is the kindest and most intentional mama. It’s been a pleasure to watch her prep in her maternity season and now care for Shepard in the the most gentle ways. Congrats, Sarah! Watching you become a mama has been such a joy. I love watching your journey.
Not only did we capture so much beauty during Sarah’s maternity session, we got to have this session in my home town! I went to high school in Kansas City and LOVE The Nelson Atkin’s Museum of Art. This museum has been a place of so much joy, solitude, and rest in my life. I would come here in high school, and sometimes even college, when I needed a break from everything. I would sit in the cafe and dream of my future and plan for big things. Each time I visit home I make a point to stop by the Nelson and it lights my heart up with so much joy. I can’t wait for another visit home so I can walk the beautiful yard with all the shuttlecocks dispersed throughout. Until then, drinking my morning coffee in this shuttlecock mug will have to do.
So, thank you Sarah for allowing me to photograph your maternity session in one of my favorite places in the world.
