If you’ve been following along this week you know I’m sharing thoughts, tips, and advice that I think are worth talking about heading into and during your engagement season. I believe this is the season to dive deeper into getting to know your partner and to nurture your relationship.
So far this week we’ve talked about:
Part II | Be Open, Ask Questions, Remain Curious
And today we’re wrapping up our mini series with Part IV on…
Give your partner the main course, not the left overs
It’s easy with busy schedules and all that’s going on to overlook your partner’s needs and not tend to your relationship. It’s really easy to give your partner whatever left over energy you have instead of giving them your best.
Here are 3 sustainable ways to give your partner your best energy without adding more into your schedule!
01 | Turn regular errands into dates
Turn your regular tasks into dates! Need to go to Lowes to get supplies for your yard and garden? Turn it into a date! Go get your stuff at Lowes and make a plan to work outside in the yard together.
Need to go grocery shopping, do it together! Then plan out a fun meal you can make together afterwards.
While doing errands together isn’t always an ‘ideal date’, it allows you to get your tasks done with your busy schedule without spending extra money. Turn the mundane into intentional time.
02 | Get creative…it doesn’t have to be fancy
Creating time to spend with your spouse doesn’t have to be expensive. Often when you’re deep in wedding planning or are newly weds you don’t always gave a bunch of extra $$$ just lying around. And that’s okay! Dating your partner doesn’t have to be pricy.
Sometimes it just takes a little thought and creativity, for example:
- Pack a lunch and go to a local park and have a picnic together
- Get outside and go on walks around your neighborhood together
- Rent a movie and create a movie night at home
- Cook a meal together
03 | Get Physical Together!
Do activities together that will not only help you stay in shape and feeling your best, but can also double as intentional time with your partner.
- Create a routine of going to the gym together
- Go on hikes together
- Train for a race together
- Or just walk your dogs around your neighborhood together
Now…you just have to set aside to do these things together!
