May 3, 2019

Congrats on your engagement and upcoming wedding! I’m so thrilled you’ve found your way here.

I know first hand how much work goes into planning and preparing for a wedding day. The planning process can be stressful if you LET it be that way, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s my goal to help you have the most peace-filled and joyful wedding day possible, so I’m compiling the best resources to help make that happen!

So Welcome to my Saturday Vendor Spotlights! These spotlights feature all the wonderful wedding vendors that have made my brides and grooms wedding days flow seamlessly. This interview series will help give you a glimpse into what these great vendors offer.

So today I bring you Katie with Montaluce Winery! Read below to learn all about what Katie, her team, and Montaluce Winery offer their couples.

Introduce yourself. Who are you? Who all works on the wedding planning/coordinating team at Montaluce?

Hello! My name is Katie Fritchle and I am the Director of Sales & Events at Montaluce Winery. I have been at Montaluce for 7 years and in my current position for going on 5 years. Our team is comprised of myself, our Event Manager, Banquet Captains and Event Interns. We all work together as a team internally, but also work alongside the wedding planners and vendor teams that our couples put together!

Tell us a bit about Montaluce as a wedding venue (i.e. the property, history, unique features of Montaluce, etc.).

Montaluce Winery opened as a restaurant, winery & event venue in the Spring of 2008. Montaluce is such a special place to all of us who work here-you really could not pick a more beautiful place to come to work! Our venue overlooks acres of vineyard and has a stunning view of the natural landscape & mountains. We can accommodate weddings & events of all sizes in our restaurant dining room and have four distinctive ceremony locations, including our candlelight wine production room!

What wedding services do you offer? Can you break down some of the differences in the services you offer?

Our Montaluce Wedding Package strives to offer as many amenities as possible, while still offering flexibility to our couples! We provide the venue, all food & beverage, ceremony chairs and everything you would expect to have at a restaurant (tables, chairs, linens, flatware, stemware, china, etc.). We allow our couples and their planners to work together to design their florals, select vendors and really just come up with an overall design they love! We strive to be super flexible to ensure the menu, timeline and setup are exactly what our couples envision.

What does a typical wedding day look like at Montaluce?

A typical wedding day for us is also a busy weekend day in our restaurant! We run a full restaurant service from 11AM to 3:00PM and then begin our wedding setup right at 3:30PM. Once we start our setup and vendors get on the floor, we are full speed until our ceremony starts!

How do you help each bride/groom bring a personal element to their wedding day at Montaluce?

I think the best way to add a personal touch to the wedding is through the menu! We love to add in items that highlight different aspects of the couple’s background, like a canape that reminds them of a vacation they went on or a special side that highlights their cultural background.

How do you and your team help ease the stress of brides on a wedding day?

I have always told our team that the best way to ensure our brides are not stressed on their wedding day is to be on top of everything throughout the whole planning process! If they have been shown that we are responsive, kind and knowledgeable, they will trust that we will act the same way on their wedding day and ensure that everything runs smoothly!

What makes Montaluce as a venue stand out?

I think the most unique things about Montaluce is just how beautiful it already is, even before florals and lighting! From the Tuscan architecture to the rolling vineyards, almost every part of our venue already looks “dressed up” for a wedding! The esthetics, along with the fact that all of the food and beverages are provided by us, really simplify a lot of the wedding details.

What’s your favorite part of a wedding day?

My favorite part is always the vows! I tear up everytime I overhear them.

What advice would you give a newly engaged bride/groom just starting the planning process?

My biggest piece of advice is to get super clear on your wedding budget! This seems like the most tedious (& least fun) portion of wedding planning but putting everything together is so much easier once the budget is in place!

What questions should a newly engaged bride/groom ask a potential venue when trying to decide where might be the right fit for their special day?

I highly recommend having a list of “needs” (like having to have a buffet vs a plated dinner or an afternoon wedding vs. evening) and confirming that the venue checks all of those boxes prior to scheduling a venue tour. Being clear on that list keeps you from having to visit every venue that appeals to you!

What’s one piece of marriage advice you’d give to a newly wed couple?

My best marriage advice to really shift your mindset to a team mentality instead of a me mentality. If you expect everything to be fair and even, like roommates with a chore list, you will be so disappointed in your spouse! You both have special talents and strengths that you bring into your marriage- focus on highlighting and encouraging those in each other, versus being upset in all of the ways your spouse is different from you.
