Engagement sessions are something we value greatly at Amanda Olivia Photography because we believe these sessions are the foundation of a good relationship with each and every client and enhance your wedding photography experience. We believe engagement sessions are so valuable that we include a complimentary engagement session in every single wedding collection we offer.

Here are the top 5 reasons we value engagement sessions so much:

01. Getting to Know You

Really it all comes down to one word…relationships. We include an engagement session in every single wedding collection because we believe it’s one of the most vital aspects of your wedding photography experience, it allows us to build a realtionship with you before your big day. During your engagement session, we’ll have the opportunity to get to know each other, and we’ll be able to learn what’s most important to you as a couple. You’ll be able to experience how we shoot and how we handle posing and lighting. This session will make a huge impact on how your wedding day flows because you’ll already know how we work before we show up.

This means we’ll arrive on your wedding day already knowing how you two interact, what your best poses are, and how to photograph you in a genuine way that allows your relationship to shine.

What we learn about you during your engagement session is invaluable. You will show up on your wedding day relaxed and with ease knowing that you already know how we work.

02. Professional Photographs to Document Your Legacy

We believe in creating a legacy through photographs and documenting your relationships and your family through all seasons of life. This season of engagement is a beautiful one of planning, growing, and committing to the growth of a new family. Documenting this joyous season of life is always so much fun and we know when you look back at your engagement photographs you’ll hold them with fondness and excitement. And…it’s also nice to have some up to date photos of you and your significant other in casual clothes outside your wedding day.

03. Photos for Your Save the Date

Often our couples like to use their engagement photos to send out their Save the Date! It’s such a fun way to share your engagement with family and friends.

AOP Engagement Tip #1 – If you plan to use your engagement photographs for your Save the Date you may want to consider coordinating your outfits to match your wedding colors so your Save the Date is beautiful and well thought out.

04. Allows for Natural, Authentic Images on Your Wedding Day

We want to get to know you, and we want you to know us, and it’s this interaction that allows us to best document what is important to you on your unique wedding day. An engagement session gives us the time to know what makes you feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera. By doing this prep before your wedding day we can ensure to craft your wedding day photography to fit you and your needs.

AOP Engagement Tip #2 – Take the time to get to know your photographer during your engagement session because this will be the one vendor that will be with you during your ENTIRE wedding day from the moment you put on your dress to your sparkler exit at the end of the night.

05. Serve as a Hair and Makeup Trial

It can be scary to have someone do your hair and makeup for the first time on your wedding day, especially if you’re a pretty low maintenance hair and makeup person life myself. You want to look like yourself!

Want to know what your hair and makeup would look like before your wedding day? You can! Many brides use this time to do a hair and makeup trial to make sure that you love your vendors before committing to them on the big day. You’ll be able to give feedback to your hair and makeup artist on what you do and don’t like, plus you’ll see how your hair and makeup photograph.
