Wedding F.A.Q.

There are lots of questions to ask your wedding photographer! So, I’ve compiled a little F.A.Q. post with some of the most common questions I get asked from potential brides.

What can we expect working with you?

  • Timeline Planning – I work one-on-one with all my couples on their wedding day timeline. I help you find the perfect times in your day to get the beautiful photos you want and deserve on your wedding day. If you are working with a wedding planner or coordinator I will also communicate with them to make sure we get you beautiful photos!
  • Engagement & Bridal Guides – I have compiled the best tips and notes about organizing your engagement session and wedding day into one big planning guide that I share with all my couples. This guide is designed to help you have the most seamless and beautiful day possible. You’ll receive advice on everything, from picking out your engagement outfits, too how to get those beautiful detail and getting ready shots, and even how to best conduct the perfect exit! I want to give you beautiful photos, but also help make your big day everything you wished for!
  • Galleries – Your high-resolution, print-quality, images are delivered in an online gallery within 8 weeks of your wedding. A print release is also included so that you can print your images wherever and whenever you wish!
  • Film & Digital – I capture all my session in both mediums. But, film is my baby and that’s what I primarily use!

Who is your second shooter?

I have a few talented photographers that I regularly work with and trust. These photographers have a very similar style, and are excellent film photographers. You’re in good hands!

Do you recommend doing a “First Look”?

We recommend to plan your wedding day timeline around the light! We know that some couples are all for a first look, while other would like to keep things traditional, ultimately the decision is up to you. We encourage you to think about the time of day you are getting married, and allow for at least 1 hour after your ceremony to take photos with some natural light before the sun sets. For example, this would mean, if the sunsets at 7:00pm then ensure your ceremony ends by 6:00pm so we have plenty of time for portraits! Just remember that having natural light is so important to be able to deliver beautiful portraits to you.

How many images will I receive?

You should expect to get roughly 75-100 images per hour of coverage at a wedding day.

Do I get the copyrights to my images?

Yes, once you get the images they are yours to use as you’d like! However, we do ask that you not edit or change the look of the images we deliver to you and that you give Amanda Olivia Photography credit for taking the images.

I found some poses online that I’d love done at my wedding. Can I send them to you?

If there are special guests attending your big day, or if certain ceremonies have significant meaning to you, this kind of information is definitely helpful for me to know ahead of time. However, I ask my couples to trust me with the overall direction of their images. I’e found that working off a set shot list creates a rigid and overly posed environment, which unfortunately, doesn’t lead to natural looking photographs. Each couple works differently, so I really try to work with each couple to create a unique experience. Family portraits and bridal parties are typically the only time I work off a set shot list. But don’t worry, I’ll get all your most important moments documented!

Will we receive all of the images you take?

No, and you’ll be so thrilled that you don’t! We believe in quality over quantity and want to deliver only the highest quality images to you. We can take up to 5,000 images on a wedding day, and we go through and pick out the best ones for you.

Do you travel to weddings and do you charge a travel fee?

We absolutely travel for weddings and love it! We are based outside Atlanta, GA but will travel anywhere for our couples. We do charge a travel fee when traveling more than 60 miles outside of the Atlanta area. We’d be happy to provide you with a travel quote that would cover our travel expenses (i.e. travel time, fuel, and lodging).

How do we choose a location for our engagement session?

Choose a spot that you love as a couple! Often couples pick places that are important to their relationship. We do always recommend outdoors since natural light is so important to getting you those beautiful dreamy portraits. If you are having trouble finding a place on your own we are happy to recommend a few of our favorite options for your session!

I hope you find this F.A.Q. section helpful!
